Unfortunately every time we talk about a pandemic and a threat to the health of society as a whole, the next thing we’ll be talking about are human rights. No matter how much money is spent to educate the general public about the problem of AIDS people too eager to discriminate against certain layers of population will willingly do it anyway. Despite the fact that AIDS has been around for nearly thirty years, there is still strong prejudice against people who are HIV positive. In the history of abuse we have seen cases were people were expelled from educational establishments, fired unlawfully, tested against their will, had their private information exposed or were even quarantined.

There is strong prejudice that AIDS is closely connected with certain lifestyles such as intravenous drug intake, prostitution, homosexualism or even sexual freedom. People associated with such lifestyles may be discriminated as if they were AIDS carriers even though they may be perfectly healthy. This situation has to be reversed completely. It may be impossible to stop people from hating each other, however it is possible to persecute verbal and physical manifestations of such hatred. Discrimination should be persecuted by all nations of the world. HIV positive people have enough on their hands without it.
